By decision of our University Senate, students have been granted two additional exam rights to cover the 2022-2023 Academic Year Fall semester. Because there are students with and without applied courses among those in this situation, the process has been left to the authority of the department chair within the framework of the principles stated below, between the start date of the 2022-2023 Fall semester and the last day of the Fall semester make-up exams.

Matters Regarding Additional Exams
- Students who will benefit from the additional exam right must pay the tuition contribution between the dates specified in the academic calendar for the 2022-2023 Academic Year Fall semester, during which they will benefit from their additional exam rights, after their applications regarding the additional exam. Click here for all announcements regarding the tuition contribution.
- For all theoretical courses in the curriculum that students failed for graduation, two additional exam rights covering the 2022-2023 Academic Year Fall semester following the semester in which they completed their maximum duration of study will be granted.
- For all applied courses for students failed in their curriculum for graduation that are solely of the nature of practical work, laboratory, project, studio, workshop, sketch, design, fieldwork, seminar, graduation project, compulsory internship, etc., an application program of at least 4 weeks will be prepared by the relevant Department Chairs in the 2022-2023 Academic Year Fall semester, and subsequently two additional exam rights will be granted within the semester.
- Students who only have an internship left in their curriculum or who wish to benefit from additional exam rights due to failed courses along with an internship may complete their internship work during the additional exam period by paying the tuition contribution/tuition fee of the relevant semester. Compulsory internship procedures that hold applied course status will be carried out according to the provisions of the “YTU Undergraduate Education Internship Implementation Directive”.
- The Four-Semester Additional Duration Right of students Who Do Not Use the Additional Exam Right (Having a Maximum of Five Failed Courses) will begin as of the 2022-2023 Academic Year Fall semester, and these students must apply to the department chair of the program in which they are registered by 14 October 2022 to take courses by paying the tuition contribution.
- If students complete the course/courses they are required to take in the elective group, they do not need to take the additional exam for the excess courses taken from the relevant group. Students who have excess course(s) taken from the same elective pool will be required to apply to the Department Chair of the program in which they are registered with a petition containing their requests regarding the deletion of these courses.
- Upon request, students who have completed their maximum duration of study will also be granted the right to take an additional exam for conditionally passed courses with a DC grade in their curriculum. Students in this status must also apply via the system in order to raise their grades.
- Students who have completed their maximum duration of study are exempt from the grade point average condition and/or prerequisite restrictions specified by the Senate for course selection during additional exams and additional durations.
- For students completing their maximum duration of study and benefiting from additional exam and additional duration rights, the provision in Article 22, paragraph (b) of the “Yildiz Technical University Associate and Undergraduate Degree Education and Examination Regulation” stating “In order for a student to take a graduation project, they must have passed courses covering at least 75% of the total credits in the curriculum and have a GPA of at least 2.00.” will not be applied.
- Make-up sessions for applied courses and additional exams will be held face-to-face, and no excuse exams will be held for additional exams to be conducted. Students must apply to use their additional exam rights by paying the tuition contribution for the relevant semester on the announced dates. Students who do not apply on the announced dates or who do not attend the exam even though they applied will be deemed to have waived these rights and will be declared failed.
