By the decision of our University Senate, students have been granted two additional exam rights covering the 2024-2025 Academic Year Fall semester. Since there are students with and without practical courses among those in this situation, the process has been left to the authority of the department head within the period between the start date of the 2024-2025 Academic Year Fall semester and the last day of the Fall semester make-up exams, within the framework of the principles stated below.

Matters Regarding Additional Exams
- Students who will benefit from the right to take additional exams must pay their tuition fees between the dates specified in the academic calendar for the 2024-2025 Academic Year Fall semester in which they will exercise their additional exam rights, after their applications regarding the additional exam. Click here for all announcements regarding tuition fees.
- Students will be granted two additional exam rights covering the 2024-2025 Academic Year Fall semester following the semester in which they completed their maximum duration of study, for all theoretical courses in their curriculum that they failed (courses they never took; or took and failed with grades F0, FF, FD, DD) to graduate.
- For all practical courses in their curriculum that they failed to graduate, consisting solely of practice, laboratory, project, studio, workshop, sketch, design, fieldwork, seminar, graduation project, compulsory internship, etc., an application program of at least 4 weeks will be prepared by the relevant Department Heads in the 2024-2025 Academic Year Fall semester, followed by two additional exam rights to be held within the semester.
- Students who only have their internship remaining in their curriculum or who wish to exercise their additional exam rights due to failed courses along with internship will be able to complete their internship work during the additional exam period by paying the tuition fee for the relevant semester. Compulsory internship procedures, which have the status of practical courses, will be conducted according to the provisions of the “YTU Internship Directive”.
- The Four-Semester Additional Duration Right of students Who Do Not Use Their Additional Exam Rights (Having at Most Five Failed Courses) will begin as of the 2024-2025 Academic Year Fall semester, and these students will be able to perform course registration via OBS until 11 October 2024 by paying their tuition fee.
- If students have completed the course(s) they are required to take in their elective group, they do not need to take additional exams for extra courses taken from the relevant group. Students who have extra course(s) taken from the same elective pool must apply to the Department Head where they are registered with a petition containing their request for the deletion of these courses.
- Students who have completed their maximum duration of study will also be granted additional exam rights for conditionally passed courses with a grade of DC in their curriculum, upon request. Students in this situation must also apply through the system in order to raise their grades.
- Students who have completed their maximum duration are exempt from the GPA requirement and/or prerequisite restrictions determined by the Senate for course selection during additional exams and additional durations.
- For students who will complete their maximum duration of study and benefit from additional exam and additional duration rights, the provision in Article 22, paragraph (b) of the “Yildiz Technical University Associate and Undergraduate Education and Examination Regulations” stating “In order for a student to take the graduation project, they must pass courses covering at least 75% of the total credits in the curriculum and have a CGPA of at least 2.00” shall not apply.
- How makeup programs and additional exams will be held for practical courses not among those conducted online by faculties will be announced later, according to the schedule to be announced in April depending on decisions taken by the Presidency of the Council of Higher Education. No excuse exam will be organized for makeups of practical courses and additional exams. Students must apply to exercise their additional exam rights by paying the tuition fee for the relevant semester on the announced dates. Students who do not apply on the announced dates or who do not take the exam despite having applied shall be deemed to have forfeited these rights and will be declared failed.
