(Adopted by the Senate decision dated 07.02.2013 and numbered 2013/03-26.)
In order to take the graduation exam, it is mandatory to have fulfilled the requirements to take the final exam of the relevant course. No excuse exam right is granted for this exam to students who are unable to take graduation exams.
For a student wishing to apply for the graduation exam, whichever language they consistently took the course in previously (Turkish if the course was taken in Turkish, English if taken in English), the system automatically records the language of the course during application. However, if the course was taken in different languages in different semesters, the student chooses the language of the course in which they will take the graduation exam themselves prior to the exam. A student enrolled in a program taught fully or partially in a foreign language may choose the language of these courses as their program's foreign language in the graduation exam, provided they took the Social Elective/University Social Elective course(s) in Turkish and did not fail with F0, in order to make up for the foreign language credit deficiency required for their graduation. (Amended by the Senate decision dated and numbered 12.09.2024/08-12.)
For students who have at most two courses remaining for their graduation; a graduation exam is held to be conducted on the dates specified in the academic calendar, for their failed courses and courses specified in Article 2 to make up for foreign language credit deficiencies (excluding courses such as Vocational Training in Enterprises, Internship, and Graduation Project, etc.). (Amended by the Senate decision dated and numbered 12.09.2024/08-12.)
In order to be considered successful in the graduation exam, it is mandatory to receive at least a CC grade. The grade received in the exam replaces the passing grade for that course. Midterm exams and in-semester studies are not included in the evaluation.
Grades of DC and lower received in the graduation exam will not be taken into account. Therefore, the student's grade for the relevant course will remain as the grade prior to taking the graduation exam.
Students who have a course they have never taken before or who have an F0 grade in any course, even if they have taken it, cannot take the graduation exam in any course.
Following the receipt of applications, applications of students whose applications do not comply with the Graduation Exam Principles will not be evaluated, and should they inadvertently take the exam, their exam results will be deemed invalid.
Students whose cumulative grade point average (CGPA) is 2.00 and above can only take exams in courses they failed.
Students whose cumulative grade point average (CGPA) is below 2.00 can take exams in conditionally passed courses of their choice. Since a student can take exams in at most 2 courses, the total of their failed courses, if any, and the conditionally passed courses they will choose cannot exceed 2. In order to register for the exam of a conditionally passed course, the student must primarily register for the failed course, if any.
For the semester in which the graduation exam will be taken, students who did not select courses but will make use of the graduation exam are required to pay the tuition/fees for the semester in which they will take the exam. (Added by the Senate decision 16.04.2015/01-06.)
