YTU Senate Principles of the Regulations for Graduate Education and Training Article 27-
(1) “A thesis advisor is assigned for each enrolled student upon the recommendation of the Institute Department Chair and the approval of the EYK. The advisory duty is carried out by the institute department chair or the graduate program coordinator until a thesis advisor is assigned.
(2) Thesis advisor assignment is made upon the request of the student and the relevant faculty member, the opinion of the department, and the decision of the relevant EYK, in master's programs with thesis at the latest by the end of the first, and in PhD programs at the latest by the end of the second semester.
Otherwise, at the end of the periods specified for each student, a thesis advisor assignment recommendation is made to the relevant institute by the head of the institute department, and an advisor is assigned by the decision of the relevant EYK.” In accordance with this provision, it is mandatory to assign an academic advisor to the graduate students of our Department.
A faculty member will be assigned by the Head of the Department to our graduate students who do not choose an academic advisor by the period specified above.
