By decision of our university senate, students have been granted two additional exam attempts covering the 2023-2024 academic year fall semester. Due to the presence of students in this situation with and without applied courses, the process has been left to the authority of the department headship within the framework of the principles specified below, between the date when the 2023-2024 academic year fall semester begins and the last day of the fall semester make-up exams.

Matters Regarding Additional Exams
- Students who will benefit from the right to take additional exams must pay their tuition fee/contribution between the dates specified in the academic calendar for the 2023-2024 academic year fall semester in which they will exercise their additional exam rights, following their application for the additional exams. Click here for all announcements regarding tuition fees/contributions.
- For all theoretical courses in the curriculum that students have failed (courses never taken; or taken and failed with grades of F0, FF, FD, DD) required for graduation, students will be granted two additional exam attempts covering the 2023-2024 academic year fall semester following the semester in which they completed their maximum period of study.
- For all applied courses in the curriculum that students have failed required for graduation, which are exclusively of the nature of practical work, laboratory, project, studio, workshop, sketch, design, fieldwork, seminar, graduation project, compulsory internship, etc., an application programme of at least 4 weeks will be prepared by the relevant Department Headships in the 2023-2024 academic year fall semester, and subsequently, two additional exam attempts will be granted within the semester.
- Students who have only an internship remaining in their curriculum or who wish to benefit from additional exam rights due to failed courses along with an internship may complete their internship work during the additional exam period by paying the contribution fee/tuition fee for the relevant semester. Compulsory internship procedures that hold applied course status will be carried out according to the provisions of the “YTU Undergraduate Education Internship Implementation Directive”.
- The Four-Semester Additional Period Right of students Who Do Not Exercise Their Additional Exam Right (Those with at Most Five Failed Courses) will start as of the 2023-2024 academic year fall semester, and these students must apply to the department headship where they are registered by 10 March 2023 in order to take courses by paying the contribution fee.
- If students have completed the required course(s) in an elective group, they do not need to take additional exams for extra courses taken from that group. Students who have extra course(s) taken from the same elective pool will need to apply to the Department Headship where they are registered with a petition containing their requests for the deletion of these courses.
- Upon request, students who have completed their maximum period of study will also be granted the right to take additional exams for courses in their curriculum passed conditionally with a grade of DC. Students in this situation must also apply through the system in order to raise their grades.
- Students who have completed their maximum period of study are exempt from the grade point average requirement and/or prerequisite restrictions specified by the Senate for course selection in additional exams and additional periods.
- For students who have completed their maximum period of study and will benefit from the rights to additional exams and additional periods, the provision in Article 22, paragraph (b) of the “Yildiz Technical University Associate and Undergraduate Degree Education and Examination Regulation” stating “In order for a student to take the graduation project, they must have successfully passed enough courses to meet at least 75% of the total credits in the curriculum and have a CGPA of at least 2.00” will not be applied.
- How make-up programmes and additional exams will be conducted for applied courses that are not among the courses to be conducted online by faculties will be announced later according to the schedule to be announced in April, depending on the decisions to be taken by the Council of Higher Education Presidency. No excuse exam will be organised for make-up sessions of applied courses and additional exams. Students must apply to exercise their additional exam rights by paying the contribution fee for the relevant semester on the announced dates. Students who do not apply on the announced dates or who do not attend the exam despite applying will be deemed to have waived these rights and will be declared failed.
