By the decision of our University Senate, students have been granted two additional exam rights covering the 2024-2025 Academic Year Spring semester. Due to the presence of students with and without applied courses among the students in this situation, the process has been left to the authority of the department chair within the framework of the principles stated below, between the start date of the 2024-2025 Academic Year Spring semester and the last day of the Spring semester make-up exams.

Matters Regarding Additional Exams
- Students who will benefit from the right to additional exams must pay their tuition contribution fee between the dates specified in the academic calendar for the 2024-2025 Academic Year Spring semester, during which they will benefit from their additional exam rights, after their applications regarding the additional exam. Click here for all announcements regarding the tuition contribution fee.
- For all theoretical courses in the curriculum that are required for graduation and which the student failed (courses never taken; courses taken and failed with grades of F0, FF, FD, DD), students will be granted two additional exam rights covering the 2024-2025 Academic Year Spring semester following the semester in which they completed their maximum duration of study.
- For all applied courses in the curriculum that are required for graduation and which the student failed, having only the characteristics of practice, laboratory, project, studio, workshop, sketch, design, fieldwork, seminar, graduation project, compulsory internship, etc., an applied program of at least 4 weeks will be prepared by the relevant Department Chairs in the 2024-2025 Academic Year Spring semester, and afterwards, two additional exam rights will be granted within the semester.
- Students who only have an internship remaining in their curriculum or who wish to benefit from additional exam rights due to failed courses along with an internship may complete their internship work during the additional exam period by paying the tuition contribution fee/tuition fee for the relevant semester. Compulsory internship procedures, which hold applied course status, will be carried out according to the provisions of the “YTU Internship Directive”.
- The Four-Semester Additional Time Right for students who do not use their Additional Exam Right (Those with a Maximum of Five Failed Courses) will begin as of the 2024-2025 Academic Year Spring semester, and these students will be able to perform course registration via OBS until 28 February 2025 by paying their tuition contribution fee.
- If students have completed the course(s) they are required to take in the elective group, they do not need to take the additional exam for extra courses they took from the relevant group. Students who have extra course(s) taken from the same elective pool must apply to the Department Chair to which they are enrolled with a petition containing their request for the deletion of these courses.
- Upon request, students who have completed their maximum duration of study will also be granted the right to an additional exam for conditionally passed courses with a DC grade in their curriculum. Students in this situation must also apply through the system in order to raise their grades.
- Students who have completed their maximum duration of study are exempt from the grade point average requirement and/or prerequisite limitations determined by the Senate for course selection during additional exams and additional periods.
- For students who will benefit from additional exam and additional time rights by completing their maximum duration of study, the provision “In order for a student to take the Graduation project, they must have passed courses corresponding to at least 75% of the total credits included in the curriculum and their CGPA must be at least 2.00.” stated in paragraph (b) of Article 22 of the “Yildiz Technical University Associate and Undergraduate Degree Education and Examination Regulations” shall not be applied.
- For Applied courses that are not among the courses to be conducted online by the faculties, make-up programs and the manner in which additional exams will be held will be carried out and announced later in accordance with the calendar to be announced in April depending on the decisions to be taken by the Council of Higher Education. No excuse exam will be organized for the make-up of applied courses and additional exams. Students must apply to use their additional exam right by paying the tuition contribution fee for the relevant semester on the announced dates. A student who does not apply on the announced dates or who does not take the exam despite having applied is deemed to have waived these rights and will be declared unsuccessful.
